Bull riding

Toughest Sport on Dirt

Bull riding is an extreme sport with considerable life threatening risks but have little restriction in the protection equipment that is had a need to protect these sports athletes. Hockey, football, and possibly baseball all have already been mandated to wear safeness helmet to protect them from harm. For newer extreme activities, like snowboarding and skateboarding, the use of a helmet is hardly ever debated anymore. “Every time from the chute, bull riders face danger as genuine as the horns, hoofs and hard heads of bulls that can weigh a ton or more.”(usatoday) Professional bull riders should meet the same safety equipment requirements as any various other contact sport. Trying to carry on to the rope and not be tossed such as a rag doll on a back of a bull for eight mere seconds is more dangerous than playing hockey or football, in which these sports require helmets.

When it involves helmets, this little little bit of foam and plastic material can save a bull riders life. Just training for this sport can be disastrous The nature of the sport is certainly brutal and isn’t biased. Any rider can be hurt. Although helmets happen to be fairly new and maybe uncomfortable science research paper topics mind and spinal injuries could be prevented with their work with. No athlete in virtually any sport can stand repeated concussions. In bull riding right now there are three major times when head injuries may appear. A bull rider could be jerked tossed onward and slam his at once a bulls horns. If the rider gets to eight second dismounting can be hazardous. They could get their hand tangled up in the rope that is around the bull and be stomped while trying to get the rider loose. A rider can be violently thrown in the surroundings and dropped to the hard dirt. It is unpredictable how their head is going to land and absorb the shock of the affect. It is common sense that we use our human brain for thinking and daily body functions, without it we would you need to be in a vegetative talk about Since we do all our thinking with this brains and our brains are housed inside our business plan outline heads, we have to do everything we are able to to protect this specific asset. Wearing a helmet should turn into mandatory before long. It only makes sense to safeguard something as delicate and vulnerable as one’s brain. “Rodeo, a sport where the cowboy hat is as very much an icon as a bucking bronco, has got been reluctant to need its riders to use helmets.”(Brown) Lee Akin experienced the implications’ fist hand of not wearing a helmet. “When a bull weighing nearly a ton stepped on Lee Akin’s head twelve months before at an Alabama rodeo, doctors didn’t believe the four-period PBR finalist would live.” (Godfrey) Another professional bull rider, Jerome Davis, achieved his fate in nov 1997.

He crashed into the bull. Davis was jerked back again and hit his head against the animal. He

was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground head first. The affect caused a

fracture/dislocation of the seventh vertebrae at the bottom of his neck. The sixth vertebrae

exploded and shattered. He was paralyzed from the neck down.( Hollen)

When it involves injuries…

A study of practically 2,000 professional rodeo events between 1981 and 2005 found that half

of all injuries happened during bull riding. Knee and shoulder injuries are most common,

according to Downey, but “most alarming” will be the head accidental injuries. Concussions account for

nearly 9 percent of all bull riding accidental injuries, he notes.( Rueters)

Bull riders cannot miss an event even if their injuries are minimal but need time to heal. When a bull rider gets hurt and cannot contend, he falls down in his search positions, risking his title and income. So understanding that, they continue to compete with concussions and additional broken or dislocated areas of the body. For the cowboys who do use a helmet “longevity appears to become a common theme” ( Geupel)

We know the cowboy hat holds great traditions of bull riders. No doubt this symbol is very meaningful to all those who live this life. Before the event ride, following the ride and at all other times, can be when the cowboy hat could be worn. Let’s not really lose our heads and begin our children on the right foot with by using a helmet from time one.
